Please note the shape, color, and sizes of the various growths on this plate. The cottony masses show the filimentous structure of many types of fungus. The other growths are colonies of bacteria which consist of a mass of bacteria that have typically arisen from one bacteria and as they have divided have arranged themselves into a characteristic structure known as a colony.
