with:

Date
2. Put papers "in
order." The instructor will not attempt to find misplaced problems.
3. Use 8 1/2 x 11 inch white paper. Do not tear paper from a spiral bound notebook. Staple, paper clip
or
fold papers
together. Stapling is preferred. Do
not submit a "stack of
4. Identify each problem
as follows:
a.
For homework from the book, identify with the problem number, chapter and
section.
each section on a new page.
b.
For homework from xerox copies, do the work on the xerox page.
c. For work verbally assigned during class or for work assigned from an overhead projector,
identify with a" Title"
and the date
d. Papers that are not identified will not be graded.
5. For credit, work/do every problem listed in the syllabus. That is, the online problems on MyMathLab.
Papers more than two weeks late will not be accepted. Do NOT submit homework with tests.
6. When working
problems,
a.
Show the original problem and all steps necessary to achieve the
solution.
b.
Some problems are yes/no or true/false questions or require single word
responses. Answer the question with a complete sentence which makes a true
statement.
Do not merely answer with a yes/no or true/false reply.
Remember,
complete sentence has a subject, verb and sometimes an object. A good sentence
has correct grammar and spelling.
c. Do not try to crowd many problems onto a single page. Skip at least one line
between problems. You may use two columns per page, however, draw a straight line down the
middle of the page.
d. Write clearly using pencil. Do not do homework in ink. Use only black pencil. Do
not use colors other than black,
i.e., no homework in red, green, pink, orange, etc.
people cannot do 20 or 30 problems in ink without making an error. "Scratched-out" ink is considered
"Messy" and is noted as such on the problem sheet. Messy work costs one letter grade.
e. When a drawing is included, use a straight edge, compass or use whatever is
necessary to produce a neat drawing. Do not
produce freehand
drawings.
7. Follow these directions. Failure to do so costs one letter grade per infraction.
8. When submitting work by e-mail, identify your work as follows: the subject line will contain your full
name, course number and section. Suggestion: when submitting a paper by e-mail, put your own
e-mail address as part of the "To:" line. Or, alternatively, "Cc:" yourself. This simple procedure lets you
know the e-mail was actually sent. However, it does not guarantee the e-mail was actually received
by the recipient.
9. Keep a log of ALL work submitted to the instructor. The log lists the date of submission, date of return,
title and/or description of the work submitted.Click HERE for a sample log sheet.
10. Late Homework is penalized one letter grade per week. Late work is not accepted after two weeks. Late
homework cannot earn extra credit points.
11. NOTE: When a test score of less than 85 occurs, (1) rework all of the problems missed on the test, (2) show all work, (3) attach the reworked problems to the original copy of the test and (3) submit as homework within one week of the day the test was returned. Do NOT rework the tests during class time.
12. Print a copy of these homework procedures. Sign the copy stating that you have read and
understand the procedures. Submit your signed copy within the first two weeks of the semester. Late
copies of this signed procedure receive a grade of 50%.
